My fathers name is Duane Parker and served on the USS Waller 1968-1969. If you served with him, I would love to hear from you.
Served on board 1961-1963 A-Gang Emergency Diesel on board during The Cuban Missile Crisis on the Blockade and escorting the Russia sub. Discharged off The Waller on May 10, 1963
while on last cruise.
Server from 66 until decommission. Made rdc while on west Pac cruise. Have been to loads of reunions and enjoy each of them
served USS Waller DDE 466 RD 3 1956 – 1960 took 2nd but got out before results entered on file
Years served 1960 – 1964
I was a signalman and remember the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban blockade when we surfaced the Russian sub..Seemed like we spent more time around Cuba than D&S piers with shakedown cruises and everything.
