Learned to love that old ship and crew. Watcher her being towed out of San Diego from the Helena, still scared up and the bubble patch along the port quarter. That bother me watching a proud ship being towed to be scraped, she or her crew were not scrap when I knew her.
Years Served: 1952 - 1954

In memory of GARY EARL LINDEMANN.
My uncle for who I was named for . I never knew my uncle he was killed on the Ammen in 1960 in the crash . After my father William (Bill)Lindemann who entered the navy aftrh his brothers death died I recevied the flag from my uncles coffin .
I often wonder what he was like . I am sure we would of been close had he lived . RIP uncle Gary .
My father's name was James Francis Gilhuly and he died of the USS Ammen when he was washed overboard on December 1, 1943. If anyone has any information or pictures of him it would be greatly appreciation sense I have never seen a picture of him. I was just 3 months old when he died.
