Years Served: 1957-1961…I was on the Taussig from 1958-1960. I was a Radarman 2nd class when I left the Taussig. It was a great ship to serve on. Wish I had stayed on it for all of my time in the U S Navy. :)
Years Served: World War II…This is on behalf of my father, Ira Clifford White, who served on the USS Taussig during WW II as a torpedoman. He is almost 94 years old and always enjoys the reunions. You may contact him through me at rwchaney@suddenlink.net (I’m his daughter, Robin).
Years Served: 1.5…I SERVED WITH THE BEST AND WE MADE IT THRU THE ROUGH TIMES
Years Served: April 1969-Dec 1970…I served aboard the Taussig on her last WestPac cruise in 1969 and was on board for Ref-Tra as we got ready to leave again in 1970. Then they announced we would be decommissioned and I was there for the mothballing and decommissioning. I was an IC2.
Years Served: 1964-1967…Served as RD3, OI Div 1964-1967, looking for a list of where are they now for my division mates from that time frame
Years Served: 1965 to 1969…Machine Repairman third class. On the 1968 West Pac. cruse. I have a lot of great memories and made a lot of good friends and served with a great crew and captain
Years Served: 1970-1971…Would like to locate others that served at this time. It is possible to get a roster of the last crew that served aboard the USS Taussig just before it was decommissioned.
Years Served: 1/67-1/69…Gun one mount captain. Had a great crew.
Years Served: 1950-1954…Would like to hear from others serving during same time.
I served as a corpsman striker from June 65 to March 67 under the tutelage of B J Kaylor HMC and Captain Samuel Gravely. The best part of my tour even though we erre at Mekong River and I was pretty scared. I would do it again in a heart beat but I’m 77 years old now.
My dad Thomas j Boylan served from when the ship was commissioned until the end of ww2. He told me he was the youngest on the ship 17 years old
My father Tom Joyce served on the USS Taussig during WW II. He was 32 yrs old at the time and he had all white hair. I think he operated a sonar machine. He passed away in 1978. I am hoping to hear from anyone who served on the ship at that time. Thank you .
Hello,
While diving off Point Loma, CA I found a mug. Looking for the owner. The mug says ANDY across the top, then insignia of rank. ITSN. The bottom of the mug says USS Taussig DD 746
Served aboard from June of 1967 until March of 1970. Two WESTPAC cruises. Radarman, discharged as RD2. I would like to document the several times we were in the delta region doing NGFS. I have searched through GOOGLE but do not have any information. The VA has the 1966 cruise listing the Taussig as being in the delta but at no other time. I know we were there two or three times. the cruise book shows the river patrol boat we operated with which doesn’t prove we were in the delta. Any help would be appreciated.
Served 1959-1960, seaman, this was my last duty and I sure it would my 1st and only. What a great ship and outstanding shipmates.
My father William Ronald “Ronnie” Keffer served on the USS Taussig 1963-1966. My father has now passed. I was looking for anyone that may have served with him that may have any type of photos of their time on the ship.
