USS Putnam 1965-1968
STG2. Went into and retired from Naval Reserves.
Don’t know about the reunion. Someone let me know please.

Served from 1968-1971. First on the Deck Force with the likes of LaCross, Bell, LaRue all a bunch of jerks. Later went to Radar A School, rejoined ship in the Med. Served in OI division with the likes of Bernartis, Aubrey Wilson, Ron Klusik, Ted Eaton, and my brother to name a few. Enjoyed my time on the Putnam.

This ship was nothing but JUNK when it came out of fram 11 It had to go into the Norfolk Navy yard the five inch guns was screwed up by the New York yard I went on board when it came back from GTMO and found every gun was not worked on right I am the one who had this junk ship put in the Norfolk Navy Yard before it went to the med. A Lt Madden came on board and took the gunners mates away from me he was a sob made he made me the ships MAA When it got back to Norfolk I retired The Capt called me to his state room and told he knew why I left the navy but he had to keep his officers in good not the crew I am the sob who saved the life of the operrater of squ 10 if you can remember W H MADDEN GMG1

I served on the Putnam from Sep 1960 to Aug 1963. I worked on the deck force for a short time, and later worked in the ship’s office. I was a Yeoman 3rd class. I enjoyed the Putnam very much, and would like to hear from anyone who remembers me.
