To Jack Bishop: I was aboard the Buck at the time of the explosion in the fireroom but it was the after fireroom. Someone forgot to open a main steam valve to the after engine room and some superheater tubes blew out. Nobody was killed but we were able to wrap up the plant and prevent casualties. Boiler pressure was 600 psi and superheat was 850 degrees. Enjoyed our stay at Hunters Point. I left the Buck in December 1970.
