Dear Shipmates and Guests,

I hope my entry finds everyone in good health and spirits. I served onboard from Nov 77 to Jul 80, while it was homeported in New Orleans, LA. I reported onboard as an SK3 and transferred as an SK2(SW).

Despite the vintage age of the ship during the time I served onboard, I have very pleasant memories of a great crew and all the fun times we had on our many reserve weekend and operational cruises, including being part of the first set of ships to make the original Great Lakes Cruise. The ship's break-away song, I Fought The Law and the Law Won still rings clearly and loudly in my ears to this day.

I retired from the Navy in Dec 97 and now and live in Charleston, SC. Fair Winds and Following Seas To All,

Years Served: 1969 - 1972
I hit the Billy C. as a deck-ape when she was in dry-dock in Charleston SC. Right next to a coffee plant. I hate coffee and the smell of it makes me sick!!! I left her in April of 1972 as an E5 Sonar technician. If any of you were on board during that time you may remember me as a member on an on-board rock band, named The Lawemen by Lt. Long!! Grandson of Huey P.!!

Gentlemen,

It's good to be able to post my name on the guestbook or the Willie C.
I would love to communicate with some of my division personnel  fellow officers of that period. Vietnam was in full swing & we were in the Med during the '67 Seven Day War. My time in Lawe was a highlight of my life - I will treasure it forever!...thanks D. Bynum
