Years Served: 3RD CLASS USNA MIDSHIPMAN CRUISE – AUGUST 1957 TO RIO…I was assigned to the USS BROWNSON DD-868 for the South American cruise to Rio de Janiero as a Midshipman Third Class (1960)at the U.S. Naval Academy during the months of June-August. I brought my trumpet and played at the Brazilian Naval Academy Ball with the Orchestra Americana in their trumpet section. Their Midshipman Brigade Commander presented me with a presentation Espadim (Mid’n Dress Sword) which, unfortunately is in slightly more than moderate disrepair at home today. At this writing, I am 74 and preparing for Christmas 2009. GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY. :P
