Years Served: 1943-1945…My greatest event was in picking up a Japanese submarine off the Philipines and bringing it back to the States. It was then put onto a flatrail car to tour the United States for the benefit of U. S. War Bonds. This event got me a 30 day leave in which the Red Cross provided me the funds that allowed me to take the leave for this event. I was very proud of my ship and fellow amphibious LCM shipmates. I hope all my fellow amphibious shipmates are doing well and hope to see you again. If not now, then later, but not yet.
