Years Served: 1981…I served aboard the USS Davis as a civilian instructor for the City College of Chicago – taught Introduction to Law Enforcement. Arrived aboard in Ashdod, Isreal. Thanks to the Officers and crew, I was welcomed aboard and made to feel like I was one of the crew. Departed at Bahrain and returned to the United States. Navy Expeditionany Medal for passage through the Babel Mendeb Straits (Sp?) between S. Yehmen & Etheopia. A few weeks after aircraft from the USS America shot down Libian aircarft and after entering the Red Sea, Anwar Sadat was assinated and the USS Davis immediately returned to the area. Entered the Persian Gulf aboard the USS Davis. Loved the breakaway song – William Tell Oviature

I remember we did spend one night there, it was a crazy time, had small boats that protected the Davis from swimmers by dropping Concussion grenades all that night. Three or four people including one officer went into Danang to ship mail back to the states
