I remember we did spend one night there, it was a crazy time, had small boats that protected the Davis from swimmers by dropping Concussion grenades all that night. Three or four people including one officer went into Danang to ship mail back to the states

Dear George,

Thank you so much for all of the research that you are doing on behalf of Paul Heagy and his son Brad Heagy to find information about the USS Davis.
George Coppola is a Service Officer and is researching navy records to learn more about the USS Davis.Service Officer and was asked to help He asked for your contact information so he can help.

I was referred to you by Jennifer Rose, who is part of Julian Gray’s firm. She told me about your breakfast club and not only do I think this is great, but I am hoping you could help me help my Father.

My father, Paul Heagy, is a Vietnam vet who served in the Navy between 1971 and 1976, touring Vietnam in 1972-73. He was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Parkinson’s Disease a few years back. We have a current appeal for compensation outstanding with the VA but as you may know this can be a long drawn out process.

Our missing link for his appeal lies in proving that he went aground in Danang Harbor during his time aboard the USS Davis. We have this moment documented and very detailed in his timeline submitted with his appeal. But we are having a hard time proving it to the VA or finding another crew member to reinforce the encounter. I have connected with a few of his living shipmates via Facebook but many are tough to communicate with. I wasn’t sure if you could point me in the right direction.

So, if anyone has information on this happening please contact me with your name and information to forward to Mr. Heagy. Or contact himself at the following:
