Years Served: 1971-1974…Being a homeboy, I missed the woods and the swamps of Louisiana, but I did my tour on the Rosie…. Had some good times and don’t remember many bad. I served with VA-176 AE-2. Its was a good ride. damon danner shreveport, la.

Years Served: 1962 thru 1964…Served in W division – 3 med cruises – Home port Jacksonville, FL – Aboard when ship collided with transport taking on ammo in Mediterranean.

Years Served: 1956 to 1957…The FDR was my first ship, I went aboard in Gitmo during her underway training after she was recommissioned and came to the east coast. I left her in June ’57 and went to the precom detail for the Ranger.

Years Served: 1976-1977…Made last med cruise on the Rosie, Airwing 19. I was in VF-51.

Years Served: 1976 – Decom…My first ship! Served in OI Division. Made the last Med cruise and right up to decommissioning before transferring to pre-com Oliver Hazard Perry. Collision in Straits of Messina was interesting to someone new to the ship, but got us another 3 weeks in Naples :)
