Years Served: 1963 to 1967…:D Hello to all my old shipmates. I have a lot of memories from the Charlie one screw. I would love to here from anyone who also served onboard her. I live in upstate New York 518 785 8279 or rjlzzz@aol.com if you would like to get in touch with me. Following winds and smoothe seas to all.. Rick LopezSmc (sw) Ret.
Years Served: 8/58 – 7/60…This was my 1st of many ships that I served on, and the only one, that I enjoyed being on; I came aboard as a RMSA, and left as a RM3; Cdr Roy E. Burton, Jr. was the C.O. and a very fine man; I still contact with a few shipmates from those days, and will always consider them to be my friends.
Years Served: 1955-57…Wonder if anyone remembers me. I was the IC3 who kept the gyro-compass from tumbling and the phone systems working. And I was the guy who ran the movies on the fantail when we were at sea and gave private showings in the IC shack for the mess cooks and the officer stewards. They always brought a few steaks to be grilled on my small burner. Did I mentioned that me and a couple of others had a raison-jack still on the 01 deck in one of the radar closets.

Years Served: 1956-1957…I came on board in early 1956 – just in time to do the Roslare, Ireland cruise when we delivered the statue, and stayed until after the Med. cruise in 1957. I was a Machinery Repairman striker when I came on board and took the place of a guy who went by the nickname, Frenchy an MR3. When I was transferred off, I was an MR3. I had the bottom rack just outside the Machine Shop. There was a Richard Conn ?? who had the top rack there and I was with him, along with 3 others, when he rolled his car over during a week-end liberty.
