I served aboard the Hank from 1965 to 1967 as an ET3. I had some good times with Radarman Rick Simons and ET Jim Newton. They were actually drivers in my wedding
My father served as a sonarman aboard the Hank in ’70. We lived in Navy housing near the stadium and he would bring me aboard every once in a while. I remember the Christmas party and and him letting me listen in on all the sounds he could pick up in the sonar room. The Hank was my favorite ship of all the ones he served on. Lost him in September of 2018. Doyce Williams has a video on YouTube of the old girl and some of her crew.
Served on the USS HYADES AF-28 (store ship). I think it was 1962 when the USS HANK was along side when a HANK shipmates got lost over board. I threw our life ring over board to assist him. Hope he is ok today.
I served on the Hank boat, summer of 69. very young, and the beginning of my Navy days .
