Years Served: 1957- 1961…Would enjoy making contact any shipmates who served with me on the USS Hank 1957-1961. My work station was in the radar shack. Leaving as a RD3. Would like to make the next reunion in 2015 in Norfolk,Va. If anyone recalls me please get in touch with me at chank4health@gmail.com or 870-321-2007. Thank you. Hope to hear from you.
Years Served: 12/68-5/70…Ahoy all!
Years Served: 1966…I only served aboard the HANK for a few months, in while she was in the Sunoco Dry Docks, in Chester,Pa.. I previously was on mike boats, in Danang, with the Naval Support Activity. When the HANK went on its shake-down cruise, upon leaving the drydock, was one of the biggest thills of my career in the Navy, only to be short-lived!, within a week I was sent to the U.S.S. COMPTON in Boston, were I ended my naval career.
Years Served: 1967-1969…I had some good times and met some great friends aboard the Hank. I also remember the steam explosion in engine room #2 and the frantic repairs that needed to be made before the next cruise…we did it though.
Years Served: 1970…Two week reservist who came aboard while docked at the Philadelphia Navy Base in the winter of 1970. I spent a lot of hours cleaning the bilges and engine room. The time spent aboard the USS Hank, USS Little Rock CLG4 and supporting the reserve unit for 8 years has been beneficial in my carrier as an automation engineer. For the past 12 years I have been on design teams designing new systems and warships for the military. I use a lot of the complaints I heard aboard ship, back then, in meetings to this day to get processes changed on new and old ships. Several of the process changes have saved sailors lives and saved the Navy / militaries 10s of millions of dollars, Praise God for complaining sailors. ps. I did not get the bonuses for the ideas, but my bosses did, since I was a contractor I did not qualify for the green stuff.
