served 1960-64 as ET during cuban crisis. would like to hear from any shipmates.
Served on The USS BORIE DD 704…60-61…1st Div…
I arrive on the USS Borie in June 1969 – January 1971, straight from boot camp (Great Lakes). My orders said Mediterranean cruise. The cab driver from the airport, drop me off at Portsmouth shipyard, dry dock. So much for that cruise. After a few months in dry dock, we went on a shake down cruise, only to turn around to repair something else. It was a little later that they change the designation to reserve destroyer. So up the Potomac we went to Alexandria, VA.
Dan Nickola, weren’t you damage control. I also remember Harold Puckett and George Bostick.
On board 1962-63 during the Cuban Crisis. QM3 Mullins.
My LPO was QM1 Merton Mahoney (Long passed in Norfolk Va.)
My uncle Robert Dean Hermann was on this ship around 1949.
