On board 1962-63 during the Cuban Crisis. QM3 Mullins.
My LPO was QM1 Merton Mahoney (Long passed in Norfolk Va.)
My uncle Robert Dean Hermann was on this ship around 1949.
Served on the Borie 1969-1971 . Came board while in a civilian shipyard in Portsmouth Virginia area for six months. We then went up the Potomac river to serve as a reserve training ship in Alexandria Virginia
I was in R division . I still stay in contact with Harold Puckett Who was in electricians mate who loves playing his guitar
Went aboard as an RDSN in 1967. Was a shipmate of Gary Brudelie who commented above. Made the WESTPAC cruise in 68. Would love to here from him. Left the ship an RD3 and was transferred to the DDG 17 USS Conyngham where I left an RD2 in 1970.
Yes, I remember you Don Ezell. I was on 71 to 72, also forward engine room. I still have the Harmony acoustic guitar that I bought from you. We used to play in the electricians shop off of the berthing compartment. I ran into Nick Perich a few years ago. He’s doing OK. I had a good time on that ship, really sorry to see it go.
